Shaft couplings from norelem

From simple drives to complex positioning drives

Precise torque transmission, vibration absorption and motion control – Couplings from norelem are versatile and available in different versions. These include metal bellows, elastomer dog, beam, Oldham-type and rigid couplings.

Shaft couplings connect two shafts and transmit rotary movements and torques from a driving shaft to a driven shaft. The shafts are joined via a rigid or a flexible connection. Linear shaft connections are usually realised with flexible shaft couplings. Shaft couplings are also used to compensate for axial and radial shaft offsets and angular errors as well as to absorb vibrations and shocks.

Areas of use of norelem couplings

Various different types of shaft couplings are used in a wide variety of fields: from simple drives in machine tools, packaging and textile machines to complex positioning drives in control and automation technology. They are divided into two functional areas. On the one hand, these are applications in which the transmission of torque and power is of primary importance, e.g. in pumps, conveyor systems and agitators. On the other hand, there are applications for position and motion control that need to transmit rotary movements precisely and with positional accuracy, e.g. in servo and stepper motors for linear shafts.

Available versions

norelem offers shaft couplings as metal bellows and elastomer dog couplings as well as beam, Oldham-type and rigid couplings. The choice of version depends primarily on the power to be transmitted and the connection to be equalised. The type of installation is also an important factor. There are versions with clamp hubs and removable clamp hubs, which are slotted and split in the case of rigid couplings. Couplings with removable, split clamp hubs can be assembled radially. The shaft and drive do not need to be dismantled to install or replace the coupling.

Shaft couplings are almost maintenance-free. Only in the case of elastomer dog couplings where the coupling spiders are made of polyurethane and are subject to wear due to ageing and load. However, the spiders can be easily replaced without having to replace the entire coupling.

Metal bellows couplings are made of stainless steel and aluminium, with the metal bellows made of stainless steel and the hub made of aluminium and stainless steel. The couplings are mounted with clamp hubs or removable clamp hubs. Available for shaft diameters from 3 to 70 mm, they transmit torques from 0.5 to 1500 Nm.

Elastomer dog couplings are made of aluminium and stainless steel, the coupling spider is made of polyurethane. They are installed using clamp hubs or removable clamp hubs. Elastomer dog couplings from norelem are available for shaft diameters from 3 to 60 mm. They can transmit torques from 0.7 to 525 Nm.

Beam couplings are made of aluminium and stainless steel. They are assembled using clamp hubs or removable clamp hubs. The beam couplings are designed for shaft diameters of 3 to 35 mm and torques of 3 to 130 Nm.

Oldham-type couplings are made of aluminium and can be assembled on shaft diameters from 3 to 14 mm using clamp hubs. Torques from 1 to 7 Nm are transmitted.

Rigid couplings are made of steel and stainless steel. The mounting type is slotted and split. Torques of 16 to 2250 Nm can be transmitted with shaft diameters of 8 to 85 mm.
